While many people consider gray hair as a sign of wisdom and maturity, others view gray hair as an unwanted sign of old age, especially women, gray hair is among the most feared nightmares of every female.
As your hair grows, melanocytes – cells that produce melanin – are transferring melanin to each individual hair follicle that colors each hair strand seamlessly. As we age, the activity of melanocytes slows down and eventually stops, resulting in less pigment in the hair.
You can make some lifestyle changes that can help you keep your original hair color longer. If you are a smoker, stop smoking. Smoking can damage and shrink hair follicles. Protect your hair from the sun, get enough minerals like zinc, iron, magnesium, and some vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin D.

Causes Of Grey Hair
Genetics. Yup, you can certainly blame your parents for this, and they can most likely blame it on theirs. This is scientifically proven, premature graying of hair is definitely genetic in nature. So if your parents had the same problems and spotted their grays early, chances are, you’re going to do the same.
Vitamin B12 Deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency is another important reason that can lead to premature gray hair. This absence of this vitamin allows the graying process to occur more quickly and much, much earlier. Because of this, the gray hair starts to appear at a much younger age than would have happened otherwise.
Thyroid Problems And Health Issues. If you have been diagnosed with any major disease or have a long – term health problem, you can expect to see some premature grays. Also, many people who suffer from thyroid, tend to gray earlier.
Lack Of Nutrition. Eating healthy equals being healthy. What you’re eating is what you’re going to see on your skin, hair, and overall health. The right type of diet will provide you with all the nutrients your body needs to work properly, including your hair.
